The Knicks missed out on a potential deal for Norman Powell, who was dealt from the Raptors to the Trail Blazers ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
Powell was on the Knicks’ deadline radar, The Post’s Marc Berman reported, but he was shipped to Portland in a deal for Gary Trent and Rodney Hood, ESPN reported.
The 27-year-old Powell is averaging a career-best 19.6 points per game and shooting .439 from 3-point range this season. The former UCLA star can opt out of the final year of his contract ($11.6 million) and become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The Post reported that the Knicks didn’t want to give up any first-round picks in a deal for Norman as a rental, and they sought assurances he would re-sign if they made a move.
